Telemetry Encoder Shell

The Telemetry Encoder Shell package is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software component which implements the space based parts of a packet telemetry system.

It gives access through an API (Application Programming Interface) to the telemetry facilities using calls in ANSI-C. It is highly portable and easy to incorporate into different software systems, such as spacecraft simulators and on-board telemetry encoders.

TM Encoder Shell on-board application

The Telemetry Encoder Shell accepts packets and it also accepts data for the Frame Secondary Header (FSH) and the Operational Control Field (OCF). The Operational Control Field can be used to carry CLCWs (Communications Link Control Words) for packet telecommand.

The Telemetry Encoder Shell delivers telemetry transfer frames. The frames are the Version-1 frames defined for the TM Space Data Link Protocol. (Our AOS Encoder Shell generates the Version-2 frames defined for the AOS Space Data Link Protocol of CCSDS Advanced Orbiting Systems.)
